The grade
Free acid oil for emulsions and balms, a 10% sodium salt solution for clear water-based formats, or the salt as a powder for dry blends. The grade decides the pH you will be working at: 3–4, 8–9 or 9–10.
Discover our innovative menthol-derived cooling ingredient, supported by PhD-led formulation R&D and flexible OEM/ODM manufacturing.
Concept visual. The formula, pack and claim set below are the parts we actually customise.
Menthol Citrate is the cooling element; everything around it — base, dose, fragrance, pack, fill and claim — is where a brand becomes a product. These are the six decisions we make with you, in this order.
Free acid oil for emulsions and balms, a 10% sodium salt solution for clear water-based formats, or the salt as a powder for dry blends. The grade decides the pH you will be working at: 3–4, 8–9 or 9–10.
Rinse-off systems usually start at 1.0–3.0% w/w because contact is short; leave-on systems at 0.3–1.5% w/w. The number is set on the bench against your base, not copied from this page.
Clear aqueous, gel, O/W emulsion, anhydrous oil or balm, powder. A clear water-based product needs either the salt grade or a solubiliser; we will tell you which one survives your process temperature.
The ester itself is low-odour, so unscented is a real option. If you want a mint top note it can come from your perfumer or from ours, with the allergen declaration kept in step with the label.
Pump, mist, tube, jar, sachet, stick or pouch — in your pack or a reference pack of ours. Fill sizes from travel to professional, plus bulk for brands that fill in-house. Artwork and dielines handled together.
What you intend to print and where you intend to sell it decides which tests are needed, and who pays for them. We build the claim on the evidence your file already holds.
Six parameters move with your brief; one stays fixed. This is the line we hold.
| Parameter | Range or option | Who decides |
|---|---|---|
| Active grade | Free acid oil · 10% sodium salt · salt powder | Fixed by the format you choose |
| Use level | 1.0–3.0% w/w rinse-off · 0.3–1.5% w/w leave-on | Starting point, adjusted on your base |
| pH window | Set on your base — scalp, body and leave-on systems each land differently | Checked in your formula, not assumed |
| Process temperature | Added to the cooled phase, never to the hot one | Fixed by the chemistry |
| Fragrance | None, a mint top note, or your own concentrate | Your call, declaration follows |
| Pack & fill | Retail packs through bulk drums for in-house filling | Your pack or a reference pack |
| Claims | Backed by your test file | Fixed by the evidence |
The dose range above comes from our development work and is published on the technology page with its method. Your surfactant system, preservative and fragrance will move it. That adjustment is the work.
Each one is a reference build we can re-cut to your base, your pack and your market. Pick the closest, and we will tell you what changes.

About these images. AI-generated concept renders, made to show a product direction. Labels and call-outs printed inside them — SPF values, temperature figures, duration wording — are part of the mock-up. Final claims are set by the testing your market requires.
Market, format, base, target dose, pack and the claim you want to make. One page is enough to start.
We build the formula and send a labelled physical sample, with the paperwork for the grade inside the parcel.
Your base, our ester, held at the temperature and humidity of your market, with every result reported as measured.
Process settings, filling trial, specification and the document set your importer will ask for.
Every claim on the artwork is matched to a test result before the design is signed off, so the pack and the dossier say the same thing.
The bench version is a starting point; the production version is fixed once it has passed stability in your base and your market's climate.
Our own plant runs up to one metric ton a month. You get the cost of a run at your volume before you commit to a pack.
Format, market, target dose and the claim you want to make. We will come back with what is possible, what it costs and what has to be tested.
